I bought these at a CHICHI store and on the salesperson's recommendation--she was emphatic--went down two sizes from my normal 13. The break-in period was BRUTAL. I wore two pic s of socks and developed a nasty blister on my right heel and a bruise under one of my toe nails. I was very annoyed, but after trying to wear them in I went at them with neatsfootand a piece of hardwood dowel I shaped at one end, using it as a stretcher at the heel and at the seam of the toe cap. And with hard work and wearing them everyday for three weeks, and doing some actual work demolishing an old shed and building a new one, I managed to make them comfortable with a single pic of socks. They're snug but not painful. The size bed has formed to my body and while it's not cushioned in any discernable way it feels good.
